Maxwell Centre

Connecting around Soft Matter

Edwards Centre at the University of Cambridge is a new initiative bringing together all University activity in the area of Soft Matter.

More generally, the Edwards Centre is intended to act as a conduit to enable companies and potential external partners to find, and connect with, the relevant soft matter expertise within the University. In addition we are hoping to establish a Centre for Doctoral Training in Soft Matter at Cambridge, in collaboration with a number of industrial partners, bidding into the next round of research council funding.

To aid with both these ambitions we would like to invite you to an “icebreaker” half day meeting between 11 am and 4 pm on 11th October at the Maxwell Centre. We will start with Cambridge Group Leaders giving an overview of their research and the expertise around the University. In the afternoon we will have targeted bilateral discussions between industrialists and academic experts.

Registration

to attend the meeting on the 11th of October please register at:

http://www.turing-gateway.cam.ac.uk/node/5955

There is no charge for the meeting but the registration will enable us to plan catering and we will also ask you to highlight the relevant areas of Soft Matter which you work in, so that we may arrange the bilateral discussions.

If you need any more information please let us know and we look forward to seeing you in Cambridge in October.

Looking ahead

The Edwards Centre holds a Symposium every September, organized with the Turing Gateway to Mathematics (TGM), where we invite a number of external speakers to a three-day meeting that is open to all. Information about the 2018 Symposium will appear at the TGM web site in due course, but if you are interested in opportunities for industrial presentations please contact Jane Leeks (j.leeks@turing-gateway.cam.ac.uk).
