Cambridge Royce bursaries for Impulse 2020 Programme

Cambridge Royce will sponsor places for five University of Cambridge researchers (including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers) working in advanced materials.

 

About Cambridge Royce

The Henry Royce Institute is the UK's national institute for materials science research and innovation. Cambridge Royce focuses on Materials for Energy-Efficient ICT and primarily interested in materials applications for three research areas:

Energy Generation: new materials that are able to power autonomous devices by harnessing energy from the environment.

Energy Storage: significant improvements in the energy density, longevity, cost and compatibility of the various energy storage technologies required to power the next generation of ICT devices.

Energy Use: radical approaches to reduce power consumption in processing and memory, towards the theoretical limits that are many orders of magnitude below current silicon-based technology, and making devices more lightweight.

 

Application Process

Application for the Impulse programme should be made via the online application form:

Cambridge Royce will sponsor places for five participants for Impulse 2020. Any University of Cambridge researcher (including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers) working in advanced materials is eligible. Candidates are required to have a business idea that has potential for commercialisation. These ideas will be developed by the participant during the programme.

The deadline for applications for Cambridge Royce sponsorship of a place on the Impulse 2020 programme is 15 March 2020.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by skype, telephone or face-to-face as appropriate before they are accepted to the programme.

 

When is Impulse 2020?

The fourth edition of Impulse Programme will run between April and July 2019 at the Maxwell Centre, University of Cambridge. The programme comprises two intensive modules, with individual assignments in between. The programme is run in parallel with the participants‘ normal work activities. Its nature allows considerable flexibility in defining aims and workflow.
