Impulse hosts the ideaSpace B3 series "Basics of Building a Business"

31. May 2017

ideaSpace will run another event as part of their B3 series “Basics of Building a Business”. We are happy to announce that this time the event takes place at the Maxwell Centre and will be hosted by Impulse. Christian Bunke, founder of Basck and Aalbun who will introduce three professionals who have enabled the development of his venture. The event takes place on Wed 31 May 2017, 16:00-18:00 at the Maxwell Centre. Please register online.

CAPE lecture on 26 April 2017

Yupar will talk about “The role of serial entrepreneurs in the Cambridge ecosystem” in the CAPE lecture on 26 April 2017 at 4pm in seminar room 22 of the CAPE building/ Electrical Engineering. She will discuss the role of Cambridge serial entrepreneurs in the incubation of new ventures and how they carry out their entrepreneurial processes in the context of human and social capital.

Welcome Matthew Bullock

We are very happy that Matthew Bullock, Master of St Edmund’s College, joins our group of distinguished Advisory Board Members. Matthew has a long connection with Cambridge and the University. He was a member of the University’s Audit Committee from 1999–2012, founding member of the Judge Business School Advisory Board as well as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the ESRC Centre for Business Research. In the earlier part of his career, whilst at Barclays he was heavily involved in the Cambridge Phenomenon. The Impulse launch was a great success with more than 85 participants from the Cambridge entrepreneurship community, mentors, advisors and, not the least, (potential) Impulse participants. Held at the Maxwell Centre, Impulse was officially launched by Sir Richard Friend, Director of the Maxwell Centre on the 22 February 2017. Professor Chris Abell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research shared his experiences of co-founding multiple companies. This was followed by the introduction of our eminent Impulse mentors. We want to say thank you to all our guests, members of the University and business community, for the inspiring and fruitful discussions in the networking session.

Launching “Impulse for tech Innovators”: From Scientist to Entrepreneur

We would like to invite you to our Impulse Launch event at the Maxwell Centre and we would be delighted if you would join us on Wednesday 22nd February 2017 from 17:00 to 19:30.

This social evening will start with a short welcome and talk by Professor Chris Abell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and co-founder of Astex Therapeutics, Akubio, Sphere Fluidics and Aqdot, followed by a session to introduce the “Impulse” programme, its team and the mentors to give you the opportunity to engage with us and get the feel of the programme.

The event is open to all Cambridge University staff and students, members of other universities and the local business community. This is particularly relevant for PhDs, Post-Doc, researchers considering future career paths, those exploring entrepreneurial opportunities and early stage entrepreneurs looking to build high quality networks with industry experts and business community.

Welcome Prof Florin Udrea to our Entrepreneurial Advisory Board

We are so delighted to welcome Prof Florin Udrea to the impulse's Entrepreneurial Advisory Board. Florin has over 20 years experience in power devices, high voltage and smart technologies, micro-sensors and MEMS. His entrepreneurial experience and industry expertise will be greatly valuable for the impulse team and the new generation of our entrepreneurial participants. Florin is the co-founder of CamSemi, the CTO and the founder of CCMOSS (Cambridge CMOS Sensors Ltd) and Camutronics. Please click here for further information.

We wish you a very Happy New Year. Thank you for all your feedback after launching the programme. We found it really helpful and energising. This year will be exciting for us. The module A of our first new entrepreneurship programme will start on 27-30 June 2017 and the module B will happen on 25-27 September 2017.
