Impulse 2019 - Business Meets Ideas

We are delighted to announce that British biochemist Nobel Prize winner Professor Sir Gregory Winter will be speaking at the Business Meets Ideas event to be held on Tuesday 9th July 2019, 16:30 -19:30 at the Maxwell Centre, Cambridge in which participants in the programme showcase their ideas to industry.

Professor Sir Gregory Winter said:

“Entrepreneurship is critical to bringing new ideas to the market from academia to benefit society. The Impulse Programme helps to encourage entrepreneurship among researchers and scientists by bringing them together with real business practitioners, and I am looking forward to meeting all those involved.”

The Impulse Programme serves as a catalyst for entrepreneurship in individuals and organisations. The programme is about strong action learning and is results driven where participants bring their innovative ideas to the table. It acts as a learning vehicle with a sharp focus on prioritising and developing “high potential” business cases. The core of Impulse’s approach is to engage experienced entrepreneurs to act as role models and to provide guidance at the heart of the Cambridge Phenomenon.

Yupar Myint, Head of the Impulse Programme said

“I am very grateful to Professor Sir Gregory Winter Nobel Prize-winning British biochemist for agreeing to speak at the Business Ideas event. He has founded three Cambridge biotech companies based on his inventions: Cambridge Antibody Technology (acquired by AstraZeneca), Domantis (acquired by GlaxoSmithKline) and Bicycle Therapeutics and his knowledge and experience is invaluable.

His research career was based almost entirely in Cambridge at the Medical Research Council’s Laboratory of Molecular Biology and the Centre for Protein Engineering.”

The Business Meets Ideas event is an opportunity for the Impulse Programme participants to interact with industry which may be their potential customers, partners or suppliers. They will be able to gain a greater insight into industry’s overall objectives and requirements.
