The light-harvesting states of photosynthesis are highly efficient in many species, and happen extremely fast – within a nanosecond, if not picoseconds. Dr Alex Chin’s research investigates what quantum mechanics can tell us about that efficiency and how it’s managed. The insights gained will feed into design of future, more efficient solar cells.
