Maxwell Centre

The Maxwell Centre at the University of Cambridge (www.maxwell.cam.ac.uk) provides a platform for companies to engage with University researchers on mutually agreeable topics. The current top priority of the Maxwell Centre is to work with a range of stakeholders in support of reducing our carbon footprint in partnership with the University's Cambridge Zero initiative (www.zero.cam.ac.uk). As part of this we have recently been funded to solicit a report on the specific challenges of zero carbon in the Scandinavian countries.

We are therefore looking to appoint a suitably qualified individual as a consultant to research into and prepare a written report on the challenges of realising zero carbon in Scandinavian countries. We anticipate this work to take approximately six months. The point of contact for this work will be Prof Sir Mark Welland who is the Director of the Maxwell Centre. The consultant will not need to be Cambridge based, so the work can be carried out wherever the consultant is based. Any meetings/interactions will take place electronically.

We are looking for a researcher with a track record in working in a relevant area, especially with Scandinavian experience, someone with the ability to carry out detailed and comprehensive research into a topic and to then produce a report on the findings. We expect the research to cover political, economic and technical factors so that an inclusive understanding of the challenges in Scandinavian countries of achieving zero carbon, in step with international agreements, can be delivered.

The consultancy rate is expected at the level between £2500 and £3000 per month, for the six month project. The final report is expected to be made available for open publication subject to approval from the external sponsor.

Further details are available by contacting Prof Welland directly at mew10@cam.ac.uk
