The EPSRC CENTRE FOR DOCTORAL TRAINING IN SENSOR TECHNOLOGIES AND APPLICATIONS invites to an Industry Talk:

Open Data Sharing – a practical guide
by Leonie Mueck, Division Editor of PLOS

Abstract: Since March 2014, all PLOS journals require that the minimal dataset necessary to replicate published results is made openly available. Recent analysis of our data availability statements suggests that, while the vast majority of researchers formally complies with our policy, encouraging scientific communities to fully embrace the philosophy of open data sharing may require more work. As a remedy, we are discussing data sharing standards with the scientific community in order to make open data truly FAIR – findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable. I will talk about the practical aspects of sharing data openly for better transparency and reproducibility and hope to discuss with the audience what FAIR data sharing would mean in their field of study.

Speaker bio: Dr. Mueck is currently Division Editor, Physical Sciences at Public Library of Science. She has been working as Senior Editor for Nature for many years, leading Nature's Physics and Astronomy team. She is also free-lance Science writer.

The talk will be followed by coffee and tea and the opportunity to chat informally with Leonie.
