The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensor Technologies and Applications are pleased to invite you to their next industry talk

‘IoT is passé – what next?’

Andrew Cowen
FutureCare UK Ltd

Abstract: Do we need any more tizzy bitzzy IoT’s and what are sensors adding to our society today? I want to question our blind faith in public adoption of innovation and ask what are the barriers to innovation? As part of this discussion we will briefly look at what we already have and how sensors can breathe new life into our lives. I hope attendees will benefit by market realism towards technology, adoption, opportunities as well as collectively exploring a vision of the future for senior health and wellness.

Speaker bio: Andrew Cowen, Founder & CEO, The Future Care (UK) Ltd, is a creative, disruptive, innovator focused on health and wellness across public and private sectors. In 2001, he resigned from IBM to become a family care giver for his mother, diagnosed with Alzheimers.  In 2005, he started a home care agency with specialisms in dementia and family care give support. In 2015, frustrated by the absence of prevention and technology in the social service sector, he founded The Future Care (UK) Ltd. Originally Future Care started out as a value-added reseller for a medical, senior wearable health device. Later, they won an InnovateUK award to develop a medical, infants monitoring device. Long-term, they are developing other technology building blocks around health and wellness in the workplace, smart homes and cities.  Previously he was a contemporary dancer and an award-winning photographer and corporate film producer / director. In the 80’s, he founded a multi-media production company. Post parenting, he formed a database company focused on developing an events listings directory and info service.

The talk will be followed by lunch and the opportunity to chat informally with Andrew.
