Thursday 7th April will see the grand opening of the Maxwell Centre, with academic and industrial partners, as well as funders and other guests invited to explore the building and learn about the current research and projects central to the Maxwell Centre vision. Guests will be able to attend tours of the building's laboratories, enjoy posters showcasing various modes of academia-indusry interactions as well as a variety of research projects, and join in with drop-in presentations and interactive demonstrations led by residents of the Maxwell Centre and industry collaborators.
The event will also launch a collaborative Arts-Science project, with Kettle’s Yard curating an exhibition of contemporary artists responding to the scientific research that takes place within the building. As part of the programme, there will be a specially commissioned site-specific dance performance created by choreographer Wayne McGregor and artist Haroon Mirza, which through using light, sound and movement will respond to the work of James Clerk Maxwell.
The admittance to this event is by invitation only.
